From improving your understanding of the ocean to having a blast, bodyboarding is an activity that should not be overlooked. Here are a few of the best spots to partake in it.
Oceanside, California
The World Bodyboarding Championships are held in Oceanside, one of the most renowned surf spots on the coast. The beach break here can cause the sandbars to change, but there are constant peaks at both jetties and either side of the pier. It is also an excellent spot for those new to bodyboarding because there is a lower risk of injuries.
Zuma Beach
A popular spot along the California coastline is Zuma Beach. It is known for its expansive shoreline and marvelous views of the Pacific Ocean. Malibu

It offers barreling slabs with steep drop ins, which makes it easier for bodyboarders to get waves. From Blacks Beach to Birdrock, there are numerous waves to choose from. However, be mindful of the other surfers as many of the surf spots in San Diego are quite localized.
Lunada Bay
The renowned right-hand break at Lunada Bay in Palos Verdes draws in surfers from far and wide when it's firing. With its steep waves, it's a prime destination for bodyboarders to experience some of the best rides of their lives.
The Wedge
The Wedge in Newport Beach is renowned globally for bodyboarding. It derives its name from the wedge-like shape of the wave that it produces. Initially, the spot was solely for bodysurfing as the surfboards of that time were too long to handle the steep drop. However, once bodyboards became popular, the Wedge started to be seen as the premier destination for bodyboarding as one can get extreme barrels and airs. It is important to be wary of this area as the wave breaks straight onto the shore, potentially leading to severe injury.
